The next cracker: we actually bought a “bush-tree-bugger”! Not as planned, but that’s normal in West Africa. Originally it was supposed to be a new van of Indian origin, the much-quoted “Phoenix”. Now it has become a German, an 814 Mercedes-Benz. Old but robust and much bigger. And: we can easily get hold of spare parts, as this truck “Made in Western Germany” is the standard truck in Sierra Leone – which is why even the car mechanics in remote Kamakwie can repair it without any problems. We are very happy! Many thanks to everyone who has made this possible with their donations over the past few months! Every load a hectare of rainforest! Of course, one thing is still missing: the lettering. We will do this when we are back on site in October. We promise!
