Successful harvest

That’s not peanuts for us! For two reasons: Firstly, peanuts are called groundnuts in Sierra Leone, and secondly, every leone or euro counts. At the beginning of October, we will start building our own irrigation well in our tropical forest nursery!

The story behind the photo: Peanuts versus elephant grass! Do you remember?

In mid-May, our employees planted peanuts on the previously unused areas of our tree nursery to prevent elephant grass from overgrowing the site. Four months later, we are now harvesting! Fatu and the others have been very busy and are now very enthusiastic: everything went well! Not only was the harvest bountiful, but the “weeds” were also successfully kept at bay. And the cherry on the cake: We save the cost of cleaning the site again and the colleagues earn a few extra leones!
