We pumped 10,000 (!) liters into our new water tank for the first time! In 5 1/2 hours – using only solar energy. 10,000 liters, that’s almost 170 bathtubs for people from Europe!
Here in West Africa, nothing can be taken for granted, let alone water from a tap. We are incredibly proud and happy to have reached this milestone! Thank you to everyone who has made this possible with their donations!
Of course, the complete irrigation system does not just consist of the tank: there is a small solar system on our administration building in the background of the picture, which powers the pump at the well not far from the swamp. From there, the nutrient-rich water flows into the tank and then through 100 meters of hoses directly onto our small rainforest giants. Our employees are jubilant, finally the watering cans can stay in the storage container …
This will enable us to plant even more rainforest in the coming season. Who of you will be there?
